By now you have read about our closed toed shoe requirement all over our website. Why? Because of idiots! We have developed this specific page to further explain and define closed toed shoes. For you and those idiots that want to argue about their safety.

First and foremost, we will begin why this policy has been put into place. People are stupid and do not care about their own safety. In any rage room, smash room, or break room there are large amounts of broken materials; just like in demolition zones. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulates demolition zone shoes to require set thickness of soles, steel toe covering, etcetera. While our facility is not a demolition zone, we do have dangerous materials that can penetrate most common footwear. These materials can consist of different types of glass, ceramics, woods, plastics and metals.

While we are not regulated by OSHA, we do realize the dangers associated with the rage room activity and what a person is exposed to in the room as they walk around. Our implied stance of closed toed shoes is that you should be intelligent enough to understand that you are participating in an activity that can be dangerous, and that you need to take the necessary safety precautions. Unfortunately, we have stupid people argue semantics about closed toed shoes while the tops of their feet and ankles are completely bare and exposed to the same dangers.

In the three years of operations, we have had more cuts on people’s feet than any other injury.

For this reason, we have become adamant about the types of shoes that we will allow in our rage room.

This should be a no-brainer. Steel toed boots or shoes.

Less than ideal but shoes we will allow:

  • Tennis shoes with a rubber sole
  • Cowboy boots
  • Hiking shoes
  • Vans
  • Converse

Shoes we will not allow:

  • Crocs
  • Sandles
  • Flip-Flops/Slides
  • High Heels
  • Toms/Keds
  • Uggs/Hey Dudes or any other foam sole shoe
  • Any Slip-On shoes
  • Any shoe with a sole that is less than 1 inch thick.
  • Any shoe with holes in them that exposes the toes or top of the foot.

If you decide that you know better than us about the safety of your feet and want to argue about our shoe policy, do us a favor and go elsewhere. We are not here to argue with you and cause you more stress, we are here to help you relieve your stress.

SOCKS

We often ask people to remove their shoes while putting on our suits for our rage room. It is in everyone’s best interest that you have socks on. If you do not, your feet will get dirty. If your feet stink, don’t be surprised if we spray foot powder in the direction of your stank feet. Complain about it and we will not hesitate to remind you that it is part of our shoe policy to spray bare feet to protect our guests from diseases that occur on the feet, such as ringworm (this does not apply for our paint room guests).

For those of you that think that you are impervious to foot stank, guess what you aren’t! We are now requiring that you wear socks in our smash room. We are not just accepting any old sock, either. Socks need to cover your ankles and fit into a shoe that we allow. We will not allow you to wear crocs with extra thick socks. So don’t ask! If you decide to come sockless, we’ve got you covered. We will sell you a single pair of socks for $10.00. They will meet our bare minimum requirements for our rage room and may or may not properly fit your stank feet.

Shoes in Our Paint Room

We DO NOT provide shoe coverings of any kind for our paint room. We have found that the plastic or cloth shoe covers used to paint homes with are worthless and will either tear up or stick to the floor. Which will cause you to walk out of them. Tyvek shoe covers also shred like spaghetti and are a waste of money. We ask that you do not bring shoe covers, but we do still require that your feet be in some form of shoe in our paint room.

Do not expect us to provide coverings for your stanky feet without paying us to clean the shoes after you leave. If you expect us to care about your shoes as much as you do, you may want to look at our shoes. We really do not care if you are wearing the latest Crocs or Jordans. If you didn’t bring any other shoes to cover your feet you may rent our shoes for $5 per session. If you forget your socks, they are $10 per pair (we let you keep the socks).

Recommended Clothing

Rage Room:

We recommend shoes with at least one-inch-thick rubber sole. We suggest that you wear jeans and a t-shirt. You will be put into a full body suit, please keep this in mind. We do not recommend thick clothing underneath. Do not be surprised if we ask you to remove extra layers as we are not body builders and cannot pickup dead weight. While we keep our room at a blustery 65 degrees, it is not uncommon for people to get incredibly hot and sweaty during a session. We do not want you to pass out from heat exhaustion.

Paint Room:

Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting messed up. The paint is water based and does tend to soak through to under clothes. We do not have changing rooms or showers. We do offer a sink for you to clean your face and arms.
